Our client in Gaithersburg, Maryland, desired a transformation of their bathroom, moving away from the builder-grade finishes to a space that better suited their modern aesthetic and lifestyle. The original bathroom was dark, outdated, and lacked character, featuring an unused alcove bathtub and a small, confining shower.
We reimagined the space while maintaining the original functionality by combining the bathtub and shower into a single, expansive area. To enhance the sense of openness, we chose a stationary glass panel on the shower side rather than enclosing the entire span with glass.
Embracing our client’s love for technology, we integrated a digital thermostatic valve system for the shower, added chromotherapy to the jetted bathtub, and installed heated flooring throughout. For a modern yet personalized touch, the vanity area was outfitted with striking black granite vessel sinks with chiseled exteriors, a sleek quartz countertop, mixed metal pendant lights, and flat panel floating cabinetry. A harmonious blend of black and brushed bronze finishes was used throughout the space.
The floor-to-ceiling wall tile seamlessly connects both sections of the room, spanning the entire vanity and bathtub wall, which also enhances the room’s spaciousness. Consistent floor tiles were used throughout, with a smaller version in the wet area to prevent slipping. A vibrant touch was introduced with glass accent tiles strategically placed in both the shower and bathing areas, further unifying the room. Warmth was added with teak shelves installed at the bottom of both niches, as well as a corner bench.
