This master bedroom in Washington DC’s Palisades neighborhood was designed to encompass the aesthetic of both partners who use the space. We incorporated elements of leather and dark stained wood cabinets for a masculine touch while also adding hints of femininity in the bedding, side chair, and accessories.
Storage was a big concern for our clients as their existing space lacked a proper closet. We designed custom built-in cabinetry that has closed storage for clothing items and also displays their large screen television, books, and decorative items. We also incorporated a large armoire for additional clothing storage and redesigned their closet organization system.
Additional design elements include custom bedside tables that have hidden USB ports within the drawers and were stained to match the armoire. Modern sconces on either side of the bed complement the overhead light fixture that also has a unique fan feature. A geometric element was introduced with the area rug, wall covering at the back of the built-in cabinetry, and cabinet hardware. The hardware on the bedside tables and custom built-in was the same style but different finishes to tie both sides of the room together.
