Perfectly Balanced

This primary bedroom in Washington, DC’s Palisades neighborhood was thoughtfully designed to reflect the personalities and styles of both homeowners while creating a functional, relaxing retreat. The design balances masculine and feminine elements by pairing rich leather accents and dark-stained wood with soft textiles, layered bedding, elegant furnishings, and carefully curated accessories.

One of the biggest challenges was the lack of adequate storage. To maximize functionality, we designed custom built-in cabinetry that provides concealed storage for clothing while also serving as an entertainment center with space for a large television, books, and decorative accessories. A custom closet organization system and a spacious armoire further expanded the room’s storage capacity without sacrificing style.

Every detail was thoughtfully considered to enhance both convenience and comfort. Custom bedside tables were stained to coordinate with the armoire and feature hidden USB charging ports discreetly integrated into the drawers. Modern wall sconces frame the bed and complement the statement ceiling fixture, which incorporates an innovative fan for year-round comfort.

A subtle geometric theme ties the room together through the area rug, wallpaper behind the built-in cabinetry, and cabinet hardware. Matching hardware styles in complementary finishes were used on both the custom built-ins and bedside tables, creating a cohesive design that reflects the individuality of each side of the room while unifying the overall space.

The result is a warm, sophisticated primary bedroom that balances beauty and function, providing ample storage, personalized details, and a timeless design tailored to the way our clients live.
